CBD Oil Dosage Information

Whilst the legalization of ‘medical’ marijuana’ is increasing across many countries states and territories, most doctors are still wary about either prescribing or recommending CBD Oil / Tincture.

To be fair medical schools are yet to cover CBD Cannabidiol as part of their pharmacology courses. Scientists in the field of medicine are just now developing dosing schedules for medical marijuana, medicinal hemp and cannabis extracts, including CBD.

CBD oil comes in various concentrations and formats, including liquid hemp oil, hemp oil as a thick paste, oil in capsules, sublingual (under the tongue) tincture drops or sprays, salves for topical use, edibles as in candy or gum and CBD vapor for e-cigarette type vaporizers.

Everyone Is Different

The information here is just a guide for CBD dosage. Everyone is different in their perception of the symptoms they have, what constitutes pain or discomfort, and how they will respond to their CBD dosage. The best approach is to start at low doses and gradually increase until you are happy with the result.

We suggest a general recommended dose for most adults is somewhere between 2.5 and 25mg CBD once per day as a start point depending on the condition, symptoms, and severity. Someone with chronic pain, for example, might require 25mg CBD twice per day or more.

Everyone is different so you will need to monitor. Depending on how someone is feeling you may need to decrease or increase the dose after around 28 days. If the symptoms being treated worsen, the dosage should be decreased.

Although very unlikely, if someone feels too drowsy or dizzy they should reduce the dose immediately to compensate. There is no known dangerous dose of CBD Oil and our full spectrum product has less than .03% THC so no one will get ‘high’ from it. It’s worth noting the benefits of sublingual administration – in particular, putting drops under the tongue and keeping them (or at least in the mouth) from a few seconds up to 5 minutes. This method can increase uptake, speed absorption, and help CBD cross the blood/brain barrier. Bear in mind that CBD seems not to accumulate in the body so continuing with maintenance dosages is important.

Check the label

Have a look at the label and understand what is in the container (tincture, oil or capsules etc). You are looking for the milligrams (mg) and the size container to then calculate strength and dosage. With liquids you would divide the mg stated on the label by the volume of the container (as below). With capsules, the stated mg will be the amount per capsule e.g. 30 x 25mg capsules means 30 capsules each with 25mg CBD. This will help you understand recommendations that are for milliliters (ml) rather than milligrams (mg)

USE THIS EQUATION TO CALCULATE PRODUCT STRENGTH:
MG PER ML = (mg CBD) ÷ (ml container volume) >> e.g 5,000mg ÷ 30ml = 167mg per ml.

1ml is approximately 20 drops. (8.3mg per drop)

USE THIS EQUATION TO CALCULATE COST PER ML
PRICE PER ML = (mg CBD) ÷ (unit price) >> e.g. 5,000mg ÷ $125 = $4.16 per ml.
